Frequently asked questions.
WHAT IS TALLOW?
Tallow is rendered suet—fat gently gathered from around the kidneys and heart of grass-fed cattle. This particular fat is rich, clean, and especially nourishing for the skin. Suet holds more nutrients and fewer polyunsaturated fatty acids, making it the ideal base for our slow skincare ritual. It’s firm, deeply hydrating, and mirrors your skin’s natural oils in the most beautiful way.
WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR INGREDIENTS?
Our tallow is sourced with intention—from small, family-run farms that are part of the Organic Farmers Co-op. These farms honor natural rhythms: no antibiotics, no synthetic hormones, and no pesticide exposure. The animals are raised on open pastures, grazing seasonally on non-GMO grasses. Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed cows—often retired organic dairy mothers—whose lives were spent in open, nurtured environments.
Because tallow is a living reflection of nature, it may vary slightly in texture, scent, and color through the seasons. That variation is part of its charm and proof of its purity. We embrace it, just as we embrace the uniqueness of your skin.
Whenever possible, we source organic essential oils to complement and elevate the healing properties of our creams.
PRODUCT QUESTIONS
MY WHIP ISN'T FLUFFY UPON ARRIVING; WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Tallow is sensitive to its surroundings. Changes in temperature during transit may soften or firm up its whipped texture. If it arrives less fluffy, allow it to rest at room temperature—it will soften into a silky balm. If you prefer it firmer, a few minutes in the fridge will do the trick. Whether whipped or balm-like, its magic remains the same—just a smaller amount will go further.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN TALLOW IS "STABLE"?
Unlike many oils used in skincare, our tallow is low in PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids), making it beautifully stable—even when exposed to heat, light, or air. This means it won’t oxidize or turn rancid like so many commercial creams do. Instead of promoting free radical damage, it supports the skin’s natural resilience and radiance. This is skincare that harmonizes with you, not against you.
WHEN DO YOUR PRODUCTS EXPIRE?
Tallow is naturally rich in Vitamin E and other skin-loving nutrients that extend its shelf life. We recommend using your tallow within a year for peak freshness, especially when stored in a cool, dark place. That said, we believe you’ll fall in love long before then.
